Govt. backs Army boss on comments

The BJP on Friday turned out in support of Army boss General Bipin Rawat, saying that he was well inside his rights to "solicit the young from Kashmir to halt from stone pelting and brutality."

Union pastor of the state for the Prime Minister's Office (PMO) Dr Jitendra Singh likewise requested that political gatherings stop from politicizing the Army. General Rawat had talked about extreme activity against stand pellets in the Kashmir Valley who hindered the work of security powers.

Pioneer of the restriction in the Rajya Sabha Ghulam Nabi Azad had said that the Army boss' comments were graceless in the light of the occasions a year ago where a few nonconformists had been harmed because of the pellet weapons utilized by security powers.

Dr Singh however said that the Congress' response left a feeling of disappointment. "The Congress is crumpling under its own weight and is disappointed. These comments about the Army boss' perceptions are leaving that feeling of dissatisfaction."
