Irregular precipitation lashed wide parts of Jammu and Kashmir as the base temperature in the district proceeded with its upward pattern today, settling more than five degrees above typical amid this piece of winter.
The base temperature in the late spring capital of Srinagar was recorded at 6.5 degrees Celsius against the typical 1.0 degrees Celsius amid this piece of the season. The city recorded 1.4 mm of precipitation amid the night, a representative of the MeT division told PTI here.
"Broad rain or snow is normal amid the following 48 hours affected by western unsettling influence which hit the locale yesterday and will stay dynamic till Monday," the representative said.
He said there were no reports of snowfall from any piece of the district up until now.
Qazigund, the entryway town to Kashmir along Srinagar—Jammu national interstate, recorded a low of 3.6 degrees Celsius took after by Kokernag at 3.9 degrees Celsius, the representative said.
Kupwara town of north Kashmir recorded at least 3.3 degrees Celsius, while the night temperature recorded at the popular slope resort of Pahalgam in south Kashmir was 1.8 degrees Celsius, he said.
The acclaimed ski resort of Gulmarg in north Kashmir was the main recorded place in the valley where the night temperature was beneath the point of solidification at less 0.8 degrees Celsius, as yet denoting a change of 0.2 degrees Celsius contrasted with the earlier night, the MeT said.
Kargil in outskirts locale of Ladakh was the coldest recorded place in the state with a temperature of — 3.0 degrees Celsius against the earlier night's — 4.8 degrees Celsius.
The adjacent Leh town recorded a low of — 1.3 degrees Celsius, the representative included.
